One night my wife and I were having dinner in a local restaurant. As we ate, two men in business attire walked in together, each with a cell phone to his ear, deep in conversation. They followed the hostess to their table, sat, ordered, waited, were served, ate, paid, and left together, all without removing their cell phones from their ears or ending their conversations. They said not a word to one another and paused at all only to order their meals.

I think that we're so connected these days that we've become afraid of those moments of silence for which we all used to be so thankful. I know that I've tried really hard to not look at my phone as much while out and about lately and it actually has become a calming thing in my life.
