Wow. It’s been an entire week since I’ve blogged here.
That’s not great — especially since my goal was to blog every single day of 2009. I didn’t want to feel like I was creating a huge presentation for each of these blog entries, but rather just some thoughts from the day. Should have been easy to do.
But things got very busy this past Monday, and even busier on Tuesday. I’ve been dealing with some heavy work stuff as well as quite a few intense tasks here at home. There was a lot of paperwork to do for Av’s registration for school next year. This involved some financial paperwork which compelled me to finish our 2008 tax returns — something I usually put off for at least another few weeks.
That took priority over blogging, I guess.
Partially. I’ve noticed that, for me, once I go two days without blogging it becomes that much more difficult to get back into the groove of it. I suppose you could say that about anything — whether it’s exercising or practicing the cello. It makes me realize, however, that there will be times, in fact, where I will choose not to blog because I’ve decided to prioritize certain tasks in my schedule over blogging.
And I think this is a good thing for me. I used to be the guy for whom it was very easy to shirk all other responsibilities and simply do what I want to do rather than what I had to do. And now? Perhaps I’m growing to see that there are some things that simply have to get done first.
But hey — those things are done now. Which means I have no further excuse not to blog. And tomorrow is the 23rd! I’m looking forward to getting back into the swing of things with another list.
Unless, of course, something else pressing comes up in the next 24 hours. But what are the odds of that happening?

I think the healthiest people realize that blogging should take a backseat to everything else. I’ve recently got the memo as well and am actually completely okay with my limited blog focus as of late.

Knowing how busy daily life can be, I completely understand the lack of blogging. As clever as your blogging is, I think taking care of matters in your own life trumps that. That just means the rest of us need to be a bit more patient.

Right there with you, man. Though I must admit that some of the activities that get in the way of my blogging aren’t particularly important, such as watching television.
Also, I’m certainly guilty of not blogging because I want to make a bigger production of the particular post and don’t have the time or energy at present. At that point, I often get stuck in that state.
