Hell, I’d get a sex change and then go gay just for John Barrowman. He’s probably the only gay male I still have a crush on no matter if he does like man-meat!

And Eddie Vedder is just yum.

What? No Ryan Reynolds? How do you expect this to be taken seriously as a gay crush list without Ryan Reynolds?

He makes a good point.

I think if Shiny put Ryan Reynolds on the list he’d have to worry about his wife taking the list too seriously. I’m sure the absence of RR is strategic.

Dave, Hilly and othurme: You all bring up good points about the potential inclusion of RyRe on this list. I suppose you deserve an explanation:

First of all — I just saw “Smokin’ Aces” not too long ago. And Reynolds was amazing in it. At first I had no idea it was the Van Wilder dude. But he gave such an amazing performance in a film with many other amazing performances (Chris Pine, Alicia Keyes, and Jeremy Piven as a coked-up magician) as well as some which were mediocre at best (Nestor Carbonell could have done a whole lot better. And what was up with Andy Garcia suddenly flipping into a New Orleans accent at the very end?) Common did a pretty good job…

Cripes — where was I? Ah, yes: Ryan Reynolds. Inasmuch as he is wonderful eye candy, out of principle I must disqualify him as a stand I took when they removed “a Pizza Place” from the ABC comedy “Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.” I saw it as a slap in the face to cheese loving tubby guys like me everywhere.

Hilly: Barrowman is intense. I’m as straight as they come (heh), but the season premiere of Torchwood this year with the hot kiss between Barrowman and James Marsters? Yow…

I have to ask, did you actually watch jPod, I’m pretty sure only four people up here did? (Gotta give it to the CBC it tries really really hard. And usually fails.)

Definitely, a post for the girls this one. (I’d have to fight you for Eddie Vedder!!! Although I think Hilly might take me.)

(Hi, Hilly had this in her shared items. So I clicked over.)

This is scary. I love 5 of your picks! David Duchovny, I just saw in Kalifornia (again) the other night. Joel McHale and Will Forte make me laugh so they are definitely ‘in’. And Eddie Vedder………….

I’m sorry, I just had a private moment!

Torchwood rocks. Funny, I never realized that it was an anagram for Doctor Who (another great show).

Nat: I did watch it. All thirteen episodes. The problem is that not enough Canadians were watching the show — something which had to do with the CBC pushing it to a Friday night slot. I posted a link a while back to the “Save jPod” campaign, hoping that it would get people interested in a new season. However, it looks like that’s not going to happen. Oh well…

And — thanks to Hilly for driving some folks this way! I saw that your son is also into Eddie Vedder (albeit not quite the way you may be), which is very cool. My five year-old son’s latest obsessions are the Beatles, Elton John and the Foo Fighters. Gotta love the cool kids…

MetalMom: As I was writing this I checked out about 60 clips from “The Soup” on YouTube. Such an underrated show! I hope you enjoyed that special little “moment…”

Melanie: I know I already mentioned this to you this morning, but too hairy. My first impression of him will always be Wolverine, and those sideburns just don’t do it for me. Sorry…

Karl: When they were getting the reincarnation of Doctor Who ready in 2005, the BBC wanted to keep the production cuts secret. So they came up with a secret alias for Doctor Who which happened to be an Alias — hence, “Torchwood.” Ultimately it became a staple throughout the second season of the show, and it spun off to become something completely separate. But yes — quite an amazing show.

My wife just sent me a news blurb that Season 4 of Doctor Who is premiering on (either BBC America or Sci-Fi?) this weekend. Which isn’t bad, considering the BBC is only three weeks ahead.

Joel McHale…hmmm…not exactly hot, but funny as all hell. When I do have cable (depending on what time of the year.DH only gets it during football season) I love watching the Soup. My fav? Chat Stew! So meaty! And Joel’s pet chihuahua (think I spelled that right), love it!

Hilly: You know what they say about a guy with a huge head (in a jar) …

Turnbaby: It can be argued that at least two others on the list are gay. Barrowman, however, is the only one (as far as I know) who is out.

Shiny: Lou the chihuahua is the centerpiece of the show!

As a gay man i have to say… you have weird taste in men! I love that you did this, though. I think all straight guys should make this list! Of course, then that would mean all gay guys should make a list of 9 women they would go straight for. Not even sure i could do that, so cheers to you!

Lostinthemusic: I’ve found it intriguing that gay men and not-so-gay men have such a difference in opinion where it comes to what men they find attractive. I remember seeing some sort of list online of the top 50 hottest women as picked by readers of a lesbian magazine.* Yes, these women were hot — but it was a very different taste than what one would see in the mainstream media.

Go ahead — try your own “flip list” if you can… We’ll take it as a sign of how comfortable you are with your inner, latent heterosexuality. 😉

* No. Not that kind of lesbian magazine!

It would fit that I should comment on this post, but believe it or not, all I have to say is that I missed “The Soup” when it was “Talk Soup” with Greg Kinnear, John Henson, &… well, not as much Hal Sparks, but definitely John Henson ’cause he was just so darn goofy.

Okay, never mind, I have more to add: I have to admit however that, considering who I am, I am entirely shocked that I had no idea who John Barrowman is, but thanks to you, I have one more to add to my crush list as well. Thanks! And I will certainly check out this Torchwood show as well.

Great list =)
