It’s been a week already?
Today was incredibly busy at work — so I didn’t have any time to duck out and do my writing. I wish I had — things were incredibly tense and this would have been a relaxing moment of the day. But hey — it’s still Friday in some parts of the universe…
Says The Absurdist: We write for five minutes as free association, or stream of consciousness. She suggests a countdown timer which she uses — I personally found one here that worked out quite well on this machine with no speakers. There’s also a list of folks who are participating both at The Absurdist and MetalMom’s sites. And, since I’m now part of it, here as well! Visit Finn, Randi, Absurdist, MetalMom and Robin. And join the meme party yourselves!

Damn, my hair is long!
I actually haven’t had it cut since September — probably the longest I’ve ever gone without a haircut. I’ve had it long before, but at least I was getting it styled every so often, and I may have to succumb to that. You see, at first I decided that I wanted to try a new look with it long, but then it became more of a goal: the high school youth group with which we volunteer has a big program at their Fall Convention every year in November where some participants donate their hair to “Locks of Love,” a foundation which uses donated hair to make wigs for children with cancer.
And that’s my goal now. To keep it as long as I can until November. And donate it.
Why now? This is probably the last opportunity I have to do something like this. It’s a matter of time before the hair starts thinning. Or going away. Or graying. This is one of those things on my “to do” list before I die. Besides — I have awesome hair. (Thanks, Mom!) Am I an attention whore as well? Perhaps — but I think that this is the time when it can happen.
The thing is — it’s curly. And I have a beard. And I’m not thin. Which either makes me look like a ponytailed hippie guy or like Hurley from “Lost.” I’m starting to wear it back and I like it a lot — except I probably look quite dorky with it that way. Kind of like I’m ready to wear pastels and wicker shoes if I do.
Wow — my bangs are below my nose now – almost to lip level.

I guess now I have to post pictures, don’t I…
Oh — Locks of Love is a great organization. [link]

Babygirl has donated her hair three times since she was 8. I think that is cool. and the answer is “YES” you must post pictures!
Crazy hippy!
MetalMom: I shall post current pictures when I’m feeling a tad more photogenic. Until then, you’ll have to live with older pictures (such as that on the "Who is Shiny" page…) Kudos to the kid for doing the original "LOL" thing several times!
socKs: You know, you’re the one that married me after seeing a picture of me looking like this in high school:
yay you, doing the locks of love thing!! that’s awesome, shiny.
xoxo
Narf: Thanks! I hope I can stick with it. I suppose it’s long enough now to get it cut if I need to, but I’d really like it longer. Of course, I might need to change my plans if, say, a job interview comes up or something. But I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
I’ll be blogging about you today to let everyone know about "the project." I’m still working on my side of it. 🙂
